Brantwood at Coniston Cumbria
John Ruskin was an English art critic and social thinker, also remembered as an author, poet and artist. His essays on art and architecture were extremely influential in the Victorian and Edwardian eras.The home of John Ruskin from 1872 until his death in 1900 was Brantwood, and its location is regarded as one of the best in the Lake District. The house enjoys stunning views over Coniston Lake and the mountains and offers visitors a wealth of historical and cultural associations. Brantwood was one of the greatest literary and artistic centres in Europe and Tolstoy, Mahatma Gandhi and Marcel Proust were among Ruskin´s fans. www.brantwood.org.uk.
